Abstract

Canada is considering capping the number of foreign student visas if the quality of education and housing for these students does not improve. The number of foreign students in Canada has nearly tripled in the past decade, reaching over 800,000 last year. These students pay significantly higher tuition fees than Canadian students and also face challenges with high housing costs. The government wants to ensure that designated learning institutions provide adequate support for international students and protect them from fraudulent practices. The immigration minister has announced measures to crack down on private colleges and increase the financial requirement for study permit applicants. [Extracted from the article]
