Abstract

The article discusses Icono, a proposed international language that uses icons to represent words and their meanings, rather than traditional sounds or letters. It presents an initial English-Icono dictionary/thesaurus containing over 4,000 iconic words and highlights the connections between related words through shared icons, such as linking "eye," "sight," "vision," and "perspective" with an eye icon. The author argues that this icon-based system could enhance learning and comprehension, suggesting that modern technology allows for faster writing of icons compared to traditional alphabetic spelling. The preprint is noted to be unpeer-reviewed. [Extracted from the article]
