Abstract

The article focuses on the development and implementation of a comprehensive curriculum designed to teach effective independent study skills to students, addressing a recognized gap in how schools currently support independent learning. Drawing on cognitive psychology, behavior change theories, and research on teenage brain development, the curriculum aims to equip students with flexible revision strategies, metacognitive skills, and study habits to improve confidence and exam performance. Despite positive student and parent feedback, challenges include limited research evidence, low voluntary participation, and resistance from some educators who believe study skills are already taught adequately. The curriculum has been disseminated through workshops, podcasts, and collaborations with educational organizations to broaden its impact beyond the initial school setting.
