Abstract
The article discusses the flaws in the current system of student evaluations of teaching (SETs) and the need for reform. SETs are widely used in higher education institutions in the United States but have been criticized for encouraging poor teaching, grade inflation, and racial and gender biases. The article suggests that institutions should explore alternative methods of evaluating teaching effectiveness, such as peer evaluations and class visitations.
