Abstract

The article focuses on a study conducted at Bahir Dar University that investigates the mediating role of academic task engagement in the relationship between student-teacher relationships, academic task value, and positive development outcomes. Utilizing a correlational research design, the study surveyed 500 students from grades 9 and 10 across five secondary schools. The findings indicate significant positive correlations among the variables, with dimensions of academic task engagement acting as crucial mediators. The research emphasizes the importance of fostering supportive student-teacher relationships and enhancing the perceived value of academic tasks to promote positive developmental outcomes in students, while also noting limitations in causal inference due to the study's cross-sectional design.
