This article focuses on the National Association of School Nurses' (NASN) position that all students, including those with disabilities or special healthcare needs, must have equal access to safely participate in school-sponsored Out of School Time (OST) programs and activities. It emphasizes the essential role of registered professional school nurses in assessing, planning, coordinating, and implementing healthcare services to support student participation in OST activities. The article outlines the responsibilities of local educational agencies (LEAs) to provide necessary healthcare accommodations and highlights the school nurse’s authority in delegating care within legal and professional boundaries.
