Abstract
The article focuses on the underrepresentation of women in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) fields and the initiatives aimed at preparing undergraduate women to become future leaders in these areas. It highlights the barriers women face, including structural inequities, societal stereotypes, and a lack of representation in leadership roles. The McNulty Program for Leadership in Science and Mathematics at Saint Joseph’s University is presented as a successful model that emphasizes leadership development, mentorship, and community building to empower women in STEM. The program has shown positive outcomes, including high retention rates in STEM careers and significant achievements in research and professional development among its participants.
