Abstract
The article focuses on the crisis of public education in the U.S. exacerbated by the COVID-19 pandemic. Topics include the persistent staffing shortages and declining enrollment in poorer districts; the impact of neoliberal governance and disinvestment on public education; and the factors contributing to shrinking enrollment in blue regions, including housing shortages, declining birthrates, and homelessness.
