Abstract
This article focuses on the potential for collaboration between higher education professionals and public libraries to support nontraditional adult students in accessing postsecondary education. It highlights barriers these students face, including limited knowledge of college processes, financial challenges, and information gaps that can lead to enrollment in less beneficial for-profit institutions. Public libraries, as accessible community institutions with extensive resources and trusted staff, offer opportunities for outreach through information sessions, ready reference support, tailored online resources, and events like College Signing Day. The article proposes four practical recommendations for building partnerships that enhance college literacy and broaden educational opportunities for adult learners, emphasizing culturally sensitive and student-centered approaches.
