Abstract

Background: The article provides an analytical study of the psychological characteristics of the I-concept and military self-acceptance of cadets of military institutions. Purpose: Conducting a theoretical study of the psychological characteristics of military self-acceptance and self-concept of cadets of military educational institutions. Design/Methodology/Approach: We used the following theoretical methods: analysis, synthesis, comparison and systematization of modern scientific research, which were used to generalize and conceptualize the theoretical and methodological principles of studying the psychological features of youth self-awareness. Findings: Positive military self-acceptance is acquired during professional and military socialization in the academy and ensures the successful self-realization of cadets. Practical implications: The results obtained can be used to qualitatively improve the professional and psychological training of future officers. Conclusions: Military self-acceptance of a cadet is understood as the emotional-evaluative, cognitive and behavioral components of self-awareness, which are manifested in the positive attitude of a young person, towards himself, as well as acceptance of himself at the level of a conscious and learned military subjectivity. The cadet's acceptance of himself in the dimensions of status-role and bodily-functional identification as a «man in uniform» is the key to the formation of a successful I-concept of a future officer.
