Abstract

The article advocates for integrating sports history into Latin American survey courses to explore themes of identity, power, and social change. Topics include the value of sports in contextualizing the region's past, several useful teaching tools and resources to foster student engagement in the course, the role of modern physical education in early 20th-century eugenic projects, and an analysis of women's sports as a site for contesting gender norms in the interwar era.
