Encouraging Collaboration in a Business Law Classroom: Two Activities That Challenge and Engage.

Abstract

While these types of sophisticated activities may be too advanced for first- and second-year students in a Legal Environment of Business course, they have been well received and successful in a Business Law course, where students tend to be more experienced, mature, and further along in their academic careers. As a result, when designing course activities for today's students, I keep three goals in mind: (1) maximize collaboration and engagement; (2) reinforce concepts by utilizing relevant internet sources or other primary materials without overwhelming the students; and (3) give students the opportunity to practice and improve their analytical writing skills.
