Can the neurodiversity approach apply to ADHD? Exploring the lived experience of ADHD as neurodivergence.

Abstract
The article discusses the neurodiversity approach to Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), positioning it as a value-neutral neurodivergence rather than a deficit to be cured. It contrasts this perspective with medical and social constructionist approaches, emphasizing the lived experiences of individuals with ADHD. Key findings indicate that ADHD traits are not universally perceived as deficits, and that disability arises from a mismatch between individuals and their environments. The neurodiversity approach is suggested as a less stigmatizing alternative that values personal experiences and integrates both individual and environmental factors in understanding ADHD.
