Abstract
The article focuses on the use of serial publications by undergraduate and postgraduate students in the Department of Library and Information Science at Imo State University, Owerri, Nigeria. Using a survey design with 120 students, the study found that journals, conference proceedings, and abstracts are the primary types of serials accessed and used by students for research and academic purposes, while other serial types such as newspapers, magazines, and government documents are accessed to a much lesser extent. The findings highlight the importance of serials as current and relevant information sources that support students' academic growth and research activities. The study recommends increased budgetary allocation by university management to enhance the acquisition and accessibility of serials in university libraries.
