Abstract

This article discusses the importance of building a climate-literate workforce in order to make better business decisions and anticipate climate risks. It highlights the fact that many business decisions are based on outdated assumptions about climate stability, and that the translation of climate awareness into sound business planning is currently broken. The article suggests a five-step process for building climate literacy, which includes listing out assumptions, determining material assumptions, mapping locations, running warming scenarios, and exploring options for protection and growth. By gaining climate literacy, businesses can anticipate risks, assess vulnerabilities, and implement adaptive and mitigative strategies. [Extracted from the article]
