Abstract

The article focuses on the National Gathering of Elders Kanata (NGE Kanata), a federally incorporated not-for-profit organization established in 2017 to unite Indigenous Elders across Canada. NGE Kanata's mission is to create opportunities for diverse First Peoples to come together through national gatherings that promote cultural sharing, intergenerational connection, and collaboration with non-Indigenous groups. Since its first event in 2017, which brought together over 5,000 Elders to discuss key Indigenous issues, NGE Kanata has organized multiple gatherings and cultural events, including the National Indigenous Cultural Expo (NICE). The organization continues to plan future events, emphasizing the preservation of Indigenous traditions, languages, and identities through collective participation and cultural celebration.
