Abstract
The article examines the systemic obstacles faced by marginalized scholars, particularly international students from the Global South and those identifying as BIPOC or LGBTQIA+, in the academic environment of the United States. It highlights the "standard operating barriers" that create significant challenges in pursuing graduate studies and advancing scholarly careers, including epistemic inequalities, citizenship issues, and financial constraints.
