Abstract

This article focuses on evaluating the effectiveness of a sexual rejection resiliency education program designed for university students to improve their responses to sexual or romantic rejection. The study involved 109 first- and second-year students who were randomly assigned to either a rejection resiliency education group or a control group receiving general university transition education. While quantitative results showed no significant long-term reduction in aggressive or manipulative behaviors following rejection resiliency training, participants in the experimental group reported increased confidence in handling rejection and expressed positive qualitative feedback about learning healthy emotional responses and communication strategies. The findings highlight the complexity of changing ingrained behaviors related to rejection and suggest that longer or earlier interventions may be necessary, though the study underscores the potential value of incorporating rejection resiliency into sexual education curricula.
