Abstract
The article examines the systemic exclusion of Panamanian history from curricula and presents lessons developed with Teaching Central America to address this gap for secondary students. Topics include the historiographical shift toward centering Panamanian agency in the struggle for sovereignty, the 1903 Hay-Bunau-Varilla Treaty's impact on Panamanian sovereignty, and the 1925 Dule Revolution as an assertion of Indigenous autonomy against both the U.S. empire and Panamanian nationalism.
