Abstract
The article focuses on the GREEN Olympiad, an environmental education initiative by The Energy and Resources Institute (TERI) in India, designed to promote education for sustainable development (ESD) aligned with Sustainable Development Goal 4, Target 7 (SDG 4.7). The Olympiad engages students aged 11 to 18 through a whole-school approach, enhancing their knowledge, skills, and pro-environmental behaviors by integrating interdisciplinary themes such as climate change, biodiversity, and sustainable lifestyles into the curriculum. Supported by Indian government ministries and educational boards, the GREEN Olympiad has expanded nationally and internationally, fostering environmental awareness, community involvement, and behavioral change among youth. Feedback from participating schools indicates increased environmental consciousness and active engagement in sustainability initiatives, highlighting the Olympiad's role in empowering young learners as agents of environmental stewardship.
