Abstract

This article analyzes the non-formal civic education activities conducted by 156 non-governmental organizations (NGOs) in Spain, focusing on their scope, target audiences, types of activities, and thematic priorities. Using social cartography and qualitative content analysis, the study finds that many NGOs operate internationally and primarily engage young people, emphasizing themes such as civic engagement, social action, human rights, and environmental issues. Interviews with organizational leaders highlight opportunities like youth leadership and collaborative networks, alongside challenges including funding shortages, audience engagement, and measuring social impact. The research underscores the need for greater institutional support, systematic evaluation, and integration of non-formal civic education into broader educational frameworks.
