Abstract
This article focuses on a cross-cultural study examining the relationship between group leisure physical exercise and depressive symptoms among older adults aged 65-84 in China and Kazakhstan. The research, conducted by Al-Farabi Kazakh National University, found that group leisure physical exercise is associated with lower depressive symptoms, with group identity and psychological resilience serving as sequential mediators. The study also identified significant cultural differences influenced by individualism-collectivism orientation, as well as demographic variations related to sex and health status. These findings offer cross-cultural insights relevant to promoting mental health among older adults in both countries. [Extracted from the article]
