Abstract

This article focuses on the misdiagnosis of conduct disorder (CD) among Hispanic and Latino children, based on a systematic review of peer-reviewed studies from 2019 to 2023. The review analyzed data from 3,488 participants aged 5 to 18 across various Hispanic and Latin American countries, who underwent multimodal assessments including cognitive testing, parental reports, and clinical interviews before receiving a CD diagnosis. Findings indicate mixed prevalence and misdiagnosis rates, with limited consideration of cultural factors in diagnostic processes. A noted limitation is that many children were assessed in English rather than their native language, potentially affecting the accuracy of diagnoses.
