Abstract

The article focuses on clarifying the distinction between linear functions and linear models in the context of psychology and social sciences, particularly addressing students' confusion regarding linear regression. It uses Ebbinghaus' classic forgetting curve as a case study to demonstrate that while the model is nonlinear in its parameters, it can be transformed into a linear regression model through variable transformations.
