The article focuses on how land-grant universities across the United States are advancing sustainable agriculture through innovative research. The University of Minnesota is developing soybean varieties with higher oil content to meet growing renewable fuel demands. Purdue University, in collaboration with NASA, is experimenting with tomato growth in microgravity aboard the International Space Station to gain insights applicable to Earth and future space farming. Iowa State University is revitalizing apple production using high-density trellis systems to improve yield and disease management. The University of Nebraska-Lincoln has launched the Nebraska Elite 11 Veterinary Program to address rural veterinary shortages by providing scholarships and loan forgiveness to students committed to practicing food-animal medicine in rural communities.
