Abstract

This article focuses on evaluating the effects of two school-based trauma interventions, Bounce Back (BB) for grades K–5 and Support for Students Exposed to Trauma (SSET) for grades 6–12, implemented in a mid-Atlantic U.S. school district. Using a single-group, pretest–posttest design over three academic years, the study found that both BB and SSET significantly reduced students' trauma symptoms and increased positive affect, with SSET also improving negative affect and life satisfaction among secondary students. However, SSET did not significantly affect disciplinary incident rates post-intervention. The findings support BB and SSET as feasible and effective school-based approaches for addressing trauma-related symptoms, though further research is needed to assess long-term outcomes and impacts on broader behavioral and academic measures.
