Abstract
The article focuses on the development and educational application of PVGUI, a MATLAB-based graphical user interface (GUI) designed for the feasibility analysis of photovoltaic (PV) systems. PVGUI enables technical, economic, and environmental assessments of both on-grid and off-grid PV installations, including calculations of energy generation, capacity factor, unit energy cost, payback period, and carbon emissions. Its accuracy was validated through comparison with the commercial PVsyst software, showing closely aligned results. The software was integrated into the Electrical Engineering curriculum at Yildiz Technical University, where a majority of students found it helpful and easy to use for understanding PV system feasibility, though some suggested further development and additional features.
