Abstract
The article focuses on the integration of robotics, artificial intelligence (AI), and Physical AI in the confectionery manufacturing sector, highlighting how these technologies enhance flexibility, efficiency, and product quality amid challenges like ingredient volatility and labor shortages. Key industry players such as ABB Robotics, Omron, Cama Group, ACMA, Universal Robots, and Fanuc are advancing AI-powered automation through innovations like vision-guided robots, autonomous mobile robots (AMRs), AI-driven packaging systems, and collaborative robots (cobots). Physical AI, defined as the convergence of AI with robotics enabling real-time perception and adaptation, is emphasized as a transformative approach that reduces commissioning times and reliance on specialist skills. These developments support more agile, human-centric production processes that balance technology with workforce enablement, aiming to meet evolving consumer demands and sustainability goals in confectionery manufacturing.
