Abstract
The article focuses on the Pink Pepper cannabis cultivar, which features a nearly gapless genomic map, making it the most complete Cannabis sativa genome recorded to date. Developed by scientists at Colorado State University Pueblo’s Institute of Cannabis Research in collaboration with Kangwon National University, the genome boasts 99.6% completeness and over 30,000 annotated protein-coding genes. This advancement provides a valuable resource for genetic research, breeding, and understanding the plant's biological characteristics, particularly in relation to cannabinoid and terpene biosynthesis. The genomic data is open-source, facilitating research and development across the globe, and aims to enhance the consistency and therapeutic potential of cannabis products.
