Abstract

The article focuses on the development and testing of reusable menstrual hygiene management (MHM) products designed for women in Uganda, addressing challenges related to cultural taboos, access, education, and sanitation. Researchers created three prototypes using locally available materials such as Ankara fabric, gauze, and cotton, aiming for comfort, ease of washing, and replicability. Initial testing involved college students to gather feedback before distributing the products to Ugandan women, who will be trained in production, marketing, and use. The study highlights the potential of reusable menstrual products to reduce vaginal infections, improve school attendance, and enhance self-esteem among young girls in low-resource settings.
