Abstract

This article focuses on addressing burnout among breast imaging radiologists by exploring evidence-based strategies to improve their wellness and work environment. Key factors contributing to burnout include the sedentary nature of the work, reading room design, isolation, and increased remote interpretation. Proposed interventions include integrating exercise (e.g., standing or treadmill desks), optimizing reading room décor and lighting, implementing tiered privacy levels to reduce distractions, and offering flexible scheduling to support work-life balance. Additionally, ergonomic improvements and thoughtfully supported remote workstations are highlighted as means to enhance comfort, productivity, and career longevity while acknowledging challenges such as impacts on training and potential isolation.
