Abstract
The article discusses the potential of tidal energy as a reliable and predictable source of renewable energy that can help phase out fossil fuels in Europe. It highlights the rapid development of the tidal energy sector, with pilot farms starting operations in 2015-2016 and pre-commercial farms with second/third-generation machines currently being prepared. Financial support from the EU and national governments has made tidal energy more attractive for private investors, leading to major utilities and oil and gas companies entering the sector. The article emphasizes that tidal energy aligns with Europe's clean energy goals and can contribute to economic growth and competitiveness. [Extracted from the article]
