Abstract

Banks and asset managers have directed over $77 billion to companies that threaten tropical rainforests, including the Amazon, in the past two years. Despite sustainability initiatives, the finance industry has allocated close to $400 billion to companies linked to deforestation since the Paris climate agreement in 2015. The Rainforest Action Network's study highlights the top banks and investors involved in financing forest-risk commodity companies, calling for stricter regulations to address the gap between commitments and actions in protecting biodiversity.
