Abstract

Oil drillers, including Occidental Petroleum Corp, W&T Offshore Inc, and Talos Energy, have shut down offshore production in response to an oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico. The spill, caused by a ruptured subsea pipeline, has leaked 26,000 barrels of oil into the Gulf, making it potentially the largest spill in the US since the Deepwater Horizon disaster in 2010. Other companies affected by the spill include Walter Oil & Gas Corp, Cantium LLC, and Arena Offshore LLC. The companies are not allowed to resume pumping until the source of the leak is secured and repairs have been made. [Extracted from the article]
