Abstract
The article focuses on Pakistan's activation of its first horizontal oil well, named PASAKHI 13, by the Oil and Gas Development Company Limited (OGDCL) in Hyderabad district, Sindh province. The well produces approximately 460 barrels of oil per day and was drilled to a depth of 2,966 meters, including a 546-meter horizontal section to enhance oil extraction. Utilizing advanced technologies such as geo-steering and ESP, the project aims to increase production efficiency, potentially tripling output compared to vertical wells. Supported by the Special Investment Facility Council (SIFC), this development is expected to reduce Pakistan's dependence on imported petroleum and strengthen energy security.
