Abstract

Volume 16.2 focuses on the intersection of craft, cultural ecology, and the evolution of material practices, highlighting how traditional crafts are shaped by and contribute to local ecologies, cultural identities, and sustainability. Contributions include studies on Romanian amadou-making as a sustainable material, the revival of coppicing in Wales to engage marginalized youth and support ecological stewardship, and the crafting of Indigenous Ton Bai Romkao in Southern Thailand with attention to ecological balance. Other articles explore the integration of traditional basketry principles with 3D printing, the creation of Indonesian–Malaysian terracotta vases reflecting local cultural aesthetics, and innovative ceramic glaze techniques by Danish artist Christina Schou Christensen. The issue also reviews exhibitions and publications that emphasize craft as a medium for cultural expression, resistance, and the recognition of historically marginalized craftspeople.
