Abstract

We need to allow oil and natural gas prices to rise so that both renewable and fossil energy supplies can expand, recalling that peak oil, peak natural gas (eventually) and peak coal (even further in the future) are geological realities, not theories. The effects of diminished natural gas supplies are also spreading to the U.S. The northeastern states of the U.S. are heavily dependent on liquefied natural gas (LNG). Increased LNG exports to Europe to make up for decreased Russian gas exports have caused gas prices in the U.S. northeast to double. [Extracted from the article]
