In southern Karakalpakstan, horticulturist Natalya Akinshina and botanist Azamat Azizov have similarly ambitious plans for rejuvenating the Aral Sea basin by establishing honey gardens. At the time, Merv was part of Russian Turkestan, as was much of the Aral Sea basin. [Extracted from the article]
