Abstract
This article provides a brief overview of a study on vicarious traumatization in meteorologists and emergency management professionals. The study examines the negative mental health outcomes that weather-focused individuals may experience due to the stress they witness or imagine for their constituents. The findings suggest that meteorologists generally exhibit psychological resilience in the face of vicarious traumatization, with no substantial trends in individual differences across meteorological employment sectors. However, differences were observed in pathological altruism and overall mental health coping scores, with emergency management professionals scoring higher in pathological altruism and television-broadcast meteorologists scoring higher in overall mental health coping. It is important to note that this study is preliminary and has not been peer-reviewed. [Extracted from the article]
