Abstract
Former US Vice President Al Gore has warned that some countries are attempting to backtrack on their commitments made at the COP28 climate summit to transition away from fossil fuels. At the conference, 197 nations agreed to remove fossil fuels from their energy systems by mid-century, but some countries are now claiming that certain parts of the pledge are optional. Gore has called attention to the loopholes and tricky language in the agreement, advocating for reform of the diplomatic process behind the annual climate summits. He also expressed concerns about the influence of the fossil fuel industry in these conferences. [Extracted from the article]
