Abstract

Austria is offering retail debt products with a green label to appeal to environmentally-conscious investors. The Austrian Treasury is providing two retail debt options that allow households to invest directly in the federal budget, which will fund renewable energy generation, electric-vehicle charging points, and Austria's power grid. These products, called Bundesschaetze notes, have various maturities and come with no fees and a full guarantee. Austria is the first country to offer short-term, euro-denominated green investments without expenses. [Extracted from the article]
