Abstract
This article reviews three books addressing the impacts of climate change on Pacific communities, particularly in Aotearoa (New Zealand) and Kiribati. The first book, *The Climate Dispossessed: Justice for the People of Aotearoa* by Teall Crossen, examines legal and justice issues surrounding climate-induced displacement, highlighting the lack of formal recognition for "climate refugees" under international law and emphasizing the responsibility of industrialized nations. The second, *Living with the Climate Crisis: Voices from Aotearoa*, edited by Tom Doig, is a collection of personal essays that explore diverse perspectives on climate change, including Indigenous knowledge, youth activism, and the need for governmental leadership. Keith Dixon’s *Acclimatising to Higher Ground* offers an in-depth case study of the I-Nikunau community in Kiribati, exploring social, cultural, and environmental challenges linked to rising sea levels and potential migration. Collectively, these works underscore the complex interplay of environmental, social, and political factors in Pacific climate justice and adaptation, while emphasizing the importance of Indigenous perspectives and the urgent need for systemic change.
