Abstract
The article focuses on esthetic dentistry approaches to address age-related and edentulism-associated changes in the perioral region, including lip elongation, loss of cupid's bow, descent of oral commissures, deepening nasolabial folds, and formation of rhytids (wrinkles). It details the anatomy and aging effects on the lips and surrounding structures, emphasizing that comprehensive treatment often requires a combination of surgical and nonsurgical procedures such as subnasal lip lifts, hyaluronic acid fillers, onabotulinum toxin A injections, and chemical peels to restore lip volume, improve vertical lip height, reduce dynamic wrinkles, and rejuvenate photodamaged skin. A case report illustrates successful integration of these modalities in an elderly patient, highlighting the importance of individualized evaluation and treatment planning to achieve balanced, natural esthetic outcomes. The article also discusses indications, contraindications, and limitations of each treatment modality within the context of perioral esthetic restoration.
