Abstract
The article focuses on a ruling by a World Bank arbitration body that prohibits Niger from trading uranium from the Somaïr mine, which was seized from the French nuclear company Orano SA by Niger's military government. The International Centre for Settlement of Investment Disputes has ordered Niger to refrain from selling or transferring uranium from the mine and to facilitate its transfer to third parties. This ruling follows Niger's military takeover of the mine in June and the detention of Orano's country representative, which the center also urged Niger to address in accordance with a local court ruling.
