Abstract
The article focuses on the resumption of crude oil production and sales from a cluster of offshore platforms operated by Houston-based Sable Offshore Corp. off the California coast, marking the first such activity in over a decade. Following local opposition linked to a previous pipeline spill, Sable restarted its pipeline system under an executive order from Energy Secretary Chris Wright, enabling crude to be transported to refineries near Los Angeles, including one owned by Chevron Corp. Currently, one platform produces over 20,000 barrels daily, with two more platforms planned to restart soon, collectively increasing local oil supply amid California’s high fuel prices and concerns over energy security due to geopolitical tensions affecting imports.
