Abstract

A study conducted by Instituto Universitario de Lisboa (ISCTE-IUL) in Lisbon, Portugal, aimed to understand how different types of environmentalists are perceived. The researchers analyzed reactions to fictional environmentalist profiles and found that profiles described as women, Asians, working as cleaners or office clerks, and politically moderate or liberal were generally perceived as more typical for environmentalists. Participants also identified most with profiles depicted as women, in a cleaner occupation, and exhibiting private pro-environmental behaviors. The study provides valuable insights for impression formation research and message framing in the environmental movement. [Extracted from the article]
