Abstract
Brazil and Paraguay have reached an agreement on the price and distribution of electricity generated by the Itaipú hydroelectric complex. The new tariff will be raised from US$ 17.66 to US$ 19.28 per kilowatt-month for 2024-26. Paraguay will also be allowed to sell its surplus energy directly to Brazilian distributors on the spot market. This agreement will generate more income for Paraguay and paves the way for a broader renegotiation of the original accord. [Extracted from the article]
