Abstract
This article examines Greta Thunberg’s role as a climate activist through the lens of testimonial life writing, focusing on how she uses digital platforms—especially Twitter (now X)—and public speeches to advocate for the “right to a future.” Thunberg’s activism intertwines personal narrative and collective identity, employing the first-person singular and plural to represent both herself and a global community demanding urgent climate action. The analysis highlights her rhetorical emphasis on time—linking past injustices, present responsibilities, and future consequences—and her strategic reappropriation of vulnerability, including her autism, as a source of agency. The article situates Thunberg’s work within broader youth-led social movements and discusses the ambivalent role of social media in amplifying activist voices while exposing them to scrutiny and commodification.
