Abstract
This study investigated the impact of cultural awareness training on reducing ethnocentrism among freshman nursing students. Using a quasi-experimental design with 64 participants, the experimental group received a 6-hour mixed-methods training program—including presentations, videos, role-playing, and international student experiences—aimed at enhancing cultural awareness. Results showed a statistically significant decrease in ethnocentrism scores in the trained group compared to the control group, suggesting that such training can effectively lower ethnocentric attitudes. The study highlights the importance of cultural awareness education in nursing to improve culturally competent care for diverse patient populations.
