Abstract

This article focuses on an arts-based autoethnographic project by Amber Moore that uses poetic-narrative inquiry to reflect on her transition from secondary English teacher to academic researcher. Drawing on six years of teaching planners, Moore crafts found poems and narrative reflections to explore the emotional challenges and growth experienced throughout her teaching career, highlighting the contrast between her difficult beginnings and more confident final year. The work emphasizes the role of poetry and narrative as tools for meaning-making and identity construction during professional and personal transitions. Funded by the Banting Postdoctoral Fellowship program, this micro autoethnography contributes to research on educator identity, arts-based methods, and literacy education.
